PAediatric Physiotherapy
At Intergen Health we are passionate, excited and love working with babies through to teenagers and young adults. We provide paediatric physiotherapy services to those of all conditions and abilities. Our highly skilled therapists specialise in paediatric conditions, we understand the impacts that different conditions and disabilities have on the developing body and their life. Our therapists have undertaken additional studies and have extensive experience working alongside people and their families to obtain the best outcomes possible.

Assessment and therapy
We complete thorough assessments which acts as the foundation to create an individualised treatment plan. We provide recommendations to maximise independence and engagement in all aspects of life.
Equipment prescription
As your child grows, their needs change and they may require different pieces of equipment and items to help them. We can help provide these items as required.
Hydrotherapy
Hydrotherapy can be done both on land and in water. Providing physiotherapy in the water is safe, fun and engaging.
Report Writing
We complete all relevant reports upon request. These can be NDIA plan support letters, assistive technology reports, reports to other medical professionals and others involved.
Family and Carer training
Training can be provided for all people involved. Manual handling, hoist training, transfer practise are just some of the training we can provide.
Common conditions we treat at intergen health
Cerebral Palsy
Cerebral Palsy is an umbrella term which describes a group of disorders which impacts a growing babies developing brain, which ultimately causes a range of movement issues. The injuries which occur in the developing brain will determine the level of disability and impact that the cerebral palsy will have on that person’s ability to function in everyday life. As such no two persons are the same with cerebral palsy as it can vary significantly from person to person.
Down Syndrome
Down Syndrome is a genetic disorder which is caused by the 21st pair of chromosomes having an extra chromosome, giving a total of 47 chromosomes instead of 46. This causes a range of common impairments including intellectual disability, characteristic facial features, small hands and feet and hpyotonia (low muscle tone). Approximately half of people with Down Syndrome will have heart defects. People will down Syndrome can experience delays in their gross and fine motor skills along with communication delays.
Muscular dystrophy
Muscular Dystrophy (MD) refers to a group of genetic disorders which causes the muscles to progressively weaken and causes skeletal muscles to degenerate. This ultimately causes the loss of independence and functioning, as the child grows their ability to perform gross and fine motor tasks, such as walking diminishes. Eventually the muscles which control breathing are impacted and breathing can become difficult.
Autism spectrum disorder
Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) is a neurological and developmental disorder which impacts the persons ability to interact, communicate and learn. Due to the nature of ASD, the interactions between the sensory and motor systems can process information differently compared to the neurotypcial population, therefore it can result in delays of gross and fine motor skills, the ability to learn new physical skills and general poor posture and changes in gait.
developmental coordination disorder
Developmental coordination disorder is a disorder seen in children which impacts the child’s ability to learn and execute motor skills. The child’s ability to learn the new motor skills is reduced and the body’s ability to coordinate muscles is impaired. Children with DCD are often delayed compared to their peers and find it difficult or are unable to perform everyday meaningful tasks, such as climbing steps or tying shoe lace.
